I've been serving for almost 16 years and I have two daughters with another little lady on the way. Every day I make sure my girls understand that they can do whatever they dream.

I'm a pilot in the Navy and when my oldest was 1 (she's 4 now), she loved to see the planes fly over her school and would call out "Mama! Mama!" As if that isn't cute enough, eventually all the other kids in her class would also call out "mama!" as planes flew overhead. A couple parents had to explain to their kiddos that it wasn't their mama up there - but I was so proud of my girl. Even now when she sees someone else in a flight suit, she exclaims, "look mommy, he/she's a mommy too!" Oh my sweet girl!

My girls love their dresses (particularly their rocket and planes dresses of course), and I just want to thank you all for teaching girls that it's cool to love airplanes and bugs and robots and math and science, and they can still love dresses if they want too. You guys really are awesome.

[Katie, you are way more awesome than we'll ever be! Happy Veterans' Day - thank you for your service, for keeping us safe, for protecting our freedoms, and for showing our girls how high they can fly!]
