Hannah Pearlman is a full-time illustrator, muralist, and stationer. Her greeting cards, stickers, journals, and notebooks can be found at shops around the US. Hannah loves color, whimsy, and puns, and tries to infuse those elements into all of her work. She lives in Providence, RI in a house with an orange door with her husband, son, and golden retriever. Hannah loves curating her Free Little Art Gallery and sharing and trading art with her local neighbors.

What style of art do you feel most comfortable in?

I've developed a pretty specific signature style, and although I enjoy the challenge of experimenting in different styles, I always return to my signature style. I would describe my work as colorful and vibrant and often whimsical. I love incorporating texture into my designs, as well! As a muralist, my work tends to be a bit more graphic, though it also features lots of bold color.

What themes or topics spark (what you feel to be) your best work?

I am forever inspired by nature, and a lot of my work features botanical elements. I am a big gardener, and love drawing all sorts of plants. I am also inspired by topics of social justice, and have a whole line of related stickers as part of my stationery company.

How do you work?

My illustration work is mainly digital. I'm a huge fan of my iPad, and have been using it for drawing for over 10 years. Even my murals start out as digital sketches, though of course I use house paint for the actually application. I love analog tools, as well, and have a really large and unwieldy collections of pens and markers, which are perfect for hand lettering.

How much of your work actually makes it to publication?

I'm quite productive! I love licensing my designs with amazing companies like Princess Awesome, and I also sell patterns on Spoonflower and some other print on demand companies. Since I own a stationery company, a lot of my work ends up on products, particularly greeting cards.
